My name is Yuri Benjamin and am currently an Intern at FNE coming to ask for your support!
With the main focus of my internship being to assist the Medical Clinic, I have seen an important need that must be addressed. At the clinic, we see as many patients as we can, but often we see patients that are beyond our care who must be transported to the hospital immediately. Sadly, most of the community does not own any form of transportation, and for the very ill, the walk to the hospital can be deadly.
When this happens, we usually wait for someone with a motorcycle or a truck to come by who’s willing to take the patient to the nearest hospital. With the nearest hospital being 15 minutes away in the City of Leon, waiting for a ride is dangerous.
This event has turned into a habitual occurrence, and dedicated patient transportation would save lives. Our goal is to raise $12,000 to purchase a truck capable of transporting patients across the dirt roads that access the clinic.
