Our July 24-August 1 trip to Nicaragua was postponed due to the uncertainties resulting from the ongoing political unrest there. We are happy to report that our combined group raised enough money to cover the costs of building a house for a family, and work on it is in progress. We hope to reschedule our trip for sometime in 2019, but right now there are many people who have lost the chance to work because of canceled trips. We want to help provide a week’s pay ($70) for each of 11 women who cook meals for the volunteer groups, 10-15 weeks each year. This will replace some of their lost income. Please give what you can to help us reach our goal. Any additional funds raised will support the work of FNEI. Thank you!

We are a group of six adults from the Unitarian Church of Sharon, Massachusetts getting ready for our July 24-August 1 trip with FNEI.

We’ll be staying in the rural community of Chacraseca, near the city of Leon on the northwest Pacific coast of Nicaragua. While there, we’ll be living in the community and building a sturdy house, latrine, and eco-friendly stove with and for a local family.

We have raised $1126 so far, thanks to members and friends of our church. Your donation, in any amount, will help us reach our goal of $2500 for the materials and professional builders who will supervise and work with us.

Thank you for your support!
